Primus demonstrates great performance in recent IFLR1000 rankings

International legal directories IFLR1000 released its Financial and Corporate 2017 rankings. The guide to the world’s leading financial and corporate law firms and lawyers covers 120 jurisdictions, more than 2200 law firms and 8000 individual lawyers.

According to IFLR1000, “this year marks a new beginning for the team at Primus”. After the merger of VARUL Lithuanian team and Primus partners in Latvia and Estonia, the “team continues to expand and impress and its reputation is growing as one of the most solid performers outside of the more established firms”.

Primus Estonian office is climbing up in the ranking table and is recognized as Tier 2 office in Estonia in the field of financial and corporate. “The firm offers high standards of professional work,” says one source. “They are an example of excellence in the market and demonstrate an extremely high level of ethics.”

Primus Latvian office maintains its position as Tier 2 office and is singled out as being “good for general corporate matters” in Latvia. One example of the firm’s recent work saw a team led by Zane Eglīte-Fogele advising Graanul Invest on its acquisition of Latgran that included securing a €200 million syndicated loan in addition to a €42 million investment by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Elsewhere, Sintija Radionova led a team assisting KPMG in Latvia in its role as administrator of Latvijas Krājbanka.

Primus Lithuanian office is also getting more attention and better evaluation in both Banking and Finance and M&A practice areas. One notable matter the banking and finance team worked on this year saw Liutauras Baikštys leading the way in acting for SBA in negotiating a draft umbrella factoring agreement with SEB Bank. In the field of M&A practice, one example of its work saw Robert Juodka leading a team acting for Zenith Capital Management on its acquisition of Prekybos parkas.

Moreover, seven Primus partners from all three Baltic offices were recognized as leading lawyers in the field.
